“The project will create a link between my personal passions and my professional activities. The positive changes it will bring will undoubtedly have a significant impact on my life. The knowledge and skills acquired, thanks to this training, will allow me to excel in my work, both in the context of tourism and in other mountain-related activities.” Laureta is one of four women who participated in the training on high mountain rescue techniques organized by the National Alpine and Speleological Corps. An activity planned by NaturKosovo, a project promoted by CELIM that aims to contribute to the sustainable tourism development of Kosovo through the promotion of the local section of the Via Dinarica, enhancing its cultural, historical and natural resources, supporting institutions in the governance of the sector, and creating jobs for the benefit of local communities.

“I decided to enroll in a mountain rescue course for a number of reasons,” Laureta continues. “In recent years, I have found myself spending more and more time in the mountains. I realized that acquiring the skills taught in this training session would benefit me by improving my ability to deal with this challenging terrain. Finally, the desire to participate in mountain rescue activities prompted me to enroll.”
The training allowed her to learn about a wide range of valuable skills: from basic skills, such as snowshoe hiking, to more advanced techniques, such as first aid and evacuation of injured people. These are skills that Laureta says will prove indispensable in her mountain ventures, enabling her to approach activities with greater organization and professionalism.
The growth of the tourism industry along the Via Dinarica route has great potential and can enable the growth of numerous mountain-related professions. “This extraordinary region has been steadily transforming into an important tourist hub,” Laureta continued. “This destination is bound to become more and more attractive to adventure and nature lovers.

“How do I see my future in the mountains? – Laureta concludes -I have not yet found a definitive answer, I believe that living in the mountains represents an opportunity to reconnect with oneself and better understand one’s desires in life. As my knowledge and skills expand, I anticipate having the opportunity to actively engage in the tourism industry. Whether it’s guiding tourists through breathtaking scenery, offering expert advice on the region’s attractions, or even participating in mountain rescue operations to ensure the safety of visitors, my training will allow me to play a key role in this evolving tourism landscape.”
