The Social Report 2022 is online on our website. Publishing it is a legal obligation but, even more so, a moral obligation. Through this document we fulfill a duty, taken first and foremost to ourselves, of transparency. We tell our story. We describe who we are, how we are organized, how we operate, what interventions we have made. But, above all, we bring out the values that have inspired our action for the past 70 years.

In the introduction to the Social Report, Davide Raffa, the director of CELIM, wrote how, in the face of the immigration tragedies that periodically recur, “we realize how valuable and a source of hope it is to work for a more just and equitable world, seeking to ensure equal conditions and opportunities for all.” And that is why it is important to leaf through these pages and to focus, as Davide Raffa always points out, “on the numbers of beneficiaries of the actions we have accomplished in 2022. These numbers are children, youth, women and men; farmers, educators, students, teachers, technicians, prisoners, micro entrepreneurs, educators. These numbers are lives we have met and with whom we have chosen to walk a stretch of road together, in the sharing of what one is and what one has, with the aim of building a future of peace, justice, rights, and a dignified life.” Interventions that have involved Albania, Kenya, Kosovo, Kurdistan, Italy, Lebanon, Macedonia, Mozambique and Zambia and that were made possible “also thanks to you, donor, who supported us.”

“In 2024,” Raffa concludes, “we will celebrate CELIM’s 70th anniversary: it will be an opportunity to thank those who had the intuition of the beginnings and those who have walked with us, but also to launch new challenges for the future” because “there is still a need for laborers in the harvest and we are confident that we are in the right direction to do a good job.
